Kentville welcomes New Year’s baby

The first baby of the New Year in Nova Scotia was born in Kentville, according to Loc Xpress.

Aurora Lee Griffin was born to Angeladayle and Adam Griffin of Port Williams. Aurora was early. She wasn’t due to arrive until 9 days from now when mom had a C-section scheduled…but the contractions began when the couple was at a wedding reception Saturday night and they rushed to Valley Regional Hospital.

Despite being born at 1 minute past midnight, Aurora isn’t the first officially in Canada. That claim is being made in Toronto where a baby arrived at 1 second after midnight, Eastern Standrd Time. Aurora at 1 minute past midnight, of course, was Atlantic time.
