Panicked passengers ran out of the terminal and onto the tarmac as a gunman opened fire in the baggage claim area of Fort Lauderdale’s airport.
The shooter picked off travellers until his handgun ran out of ammunition, leaving five dead and eight wounded yesterday afternoon.
Authorities say the suspect is a 26-year-old Army veteran named Esteban Santiago.
They say he had complained that the government was controlling his mind and making him watch Islamic State videos.
