A cargo plane has crashed in a residential area just outside the main airport in Kyrgystan in Central Asian. At least 37 people were killed and 15 taken to hospital…mostly on the ground. 15 houses were destroyed.

In the NFL playoffs…Pittsburgh will play the Patriots for the AFC championship after the Steelers beat Kansas City 18-16. The Packers downed the top-seeded Cowboys 34-31 on a last play field goal to advance to the NFC title fight against the Falcons.
In the NBL…Island Storm beat the Saint John Riptide 130-121.
In the NBA…the Raptors beat the Knicks 116-101.
