Stricter enforcement of Smoke Free Places Act

The Gallant Government is putting some teeth into the Smoke Free Places Act.

The changes will allow police and inspectors to issue tickets to people for smoking in public places like parks, restaurant patios and other places.
Smoking is already banned in these places but inspectors can only write compliance orders to managers and employers. Police can only ticket a person who smokes in a car while children are present.

Gender guide for decision-makers

The Gallant Government has released a gender-based analysis tool and guide. It’s meant to help organizations understand the impact their decisions have based on gender and other diversity factors like race.

The analysis tool will show different perspectives on policies, programs and decisions which are generally made by middle-aged white men. The guide and tool can be found online at the province’s website.
