New voice announcement system for buses

Saint John Transit is making it easier for visually impaired riders to know when their stop is coming up.

An automated voice announcement system is being installed, according to the Telegraph-Journal. It will make voice as well as visual announcements when the bus reaches its next stop. The system will cost about $400,000 to install on all 43 buses, starting with the 1-8 and 31 routes.

Man crushed by his own SUV

Police believe a man may have been crushed to death while working on repairs under his car in Dieppe Saturday.

Codiac RCMP says the 67 year old Scoudouc man was found dead under his car in a parking lot off Gauvin Road. It’s thought he had pulled over to check some kind of mechanical issue under the car and it fell, crushing him. The investigation continues but foul play is not suspected.
