Calls for stiffer fines for disabled parking spots

Ability New Brunswick wants cities and towns to increase the fines for people parking in disabled spots.

It would like to see the fine go to $172.50, according to CBC. Right now the fine in Saint John is $30.

Executive Director Haley Flaro says the misuse of accessible parking spaces is becoming more of a problem…people are missing appointments because they can’t find a spot due to people without the proper permits parking in the accesible spaces…and there are also safety issues.

States on Trump travel ban

States that challenged Donald Trump’s original travel ban will continue to challenge the new one.

The Trump administration rolled out the new executive ordered banning people from six countries, leaving Iraq off the list this time.

Maura Healey, attorney general of Massachusetts, calls the new ban misguided, and an effort to fulfil a discriminatory and unconstitutional campaign promise.  The State of Virginia says while the new version appears to be scaled back, it still sends a horrible message to the world.
