Omar Khadr case

A Toronto judge has refused to freeze the government’s $10.5 million payout to Omar Khadr.

The widow of the soldier Khadr is alleged to have killed and a soldier wounded in that battle in Afghanistan were in court in Toronto yesterday trying to freeze the payment so they can sue to get it.

The judge ruled there was no evidence Khadr is planning to hide assets to avoid enforcement of a huge American court award against him.

Quadruple homicide in Calgary

Four people have been killed in Calgary including two sisters with 16 children between them.

The women and a man were found dead in a burned-out car at a construction site this week. Then police found the body of the car’s owner outside Calgary. They believe he was the intended target and the others were in the wrong place at the wrong time. They’re still trying to identify suspects.
