City hires company to find new city hall

The city has hired a real estate firm to help find a new city hall.

Cushman and Wakefield Atlantic is requesting expressions of interest for both buying and renting options…as early as September next year.

The city wants about 34,000 square feet, plus some storage space. Fewer floors than the current Market Square setup is preferred with at least one on ground level with access to the pedway system.  The new city hall building will be primarily office space…but there must be a room suitable enough to serve as council chambers.

Lighting and other improvements at Queens Square West

Crews are preparing to upgrade the light standards and make improvements to Queens Square West over the next several weeks.

They’ll be replacing the old light standards with new L-E-D ones. The city is also adding electrial outlets to propvide greater access for community groups to host events and activities in the park. There’ll be new park benches, garbage receptacles, and signage, as well as repairs to the existing pathways, and minor landscaping improvements.
