Gagetown troops headed to Latvia

50 combat engineers left CFB Gagetown on the weekend headed to Latvia.

Operation Reassurance is part of the canadian Forces committment to NATO promoting security and stability in central and eastern Europe.

The soldiers specialize in construction and maintenance of infrastructure for military operations. They will be building basically a small town to house 500 solders being deloyed to Latvia.

Spring lobster fishery

The start of the Northern New Brunswick spring lobster fishery was delayed until today because of rough weather and ice conditions.

DFO delayed the start until 6:00 this morning for lobster fishing area 23 which encompasses waters from Miramichi to Campbellton. Fishermen hauled in an estimate $64 million worth of lobster last year from those waters.
