Flooding elsewhere in country

The heavy rains over the past several days have led to flooding in many areas of the country.

It was a miserable weekend for people in Quebec where 1,900 homes were flooded in 130 municipalities right from the Gaspe to the Ontario boundary.

Parts of B-C also saw flooding with heavy rainfall adding to the snow melt. A fire chief in Cache Creek is presumed dead after being swept away by the fast moving waters. Another elderly man was also reported buried under a mudslide.

Human Rights Act amended

The province’s Human Rights Act has been amended to make it illegal to discriminate against someone based on their family status, gender identity or expression.

Human Rights Commission chair Nathalie Chiasson says the changes were needed to support diversity and inclusion as well as protect members of the LGBTQ community.
