RCMP trial resumes today

The RCMP Labour Code trial will resume today.

Last week, court heard several officers testify about the 2014 massacre for the first time. One of the officers who was wounded that night testified that she knew the force was ill-equipped to take on an active shooter before she arrived on scene.

The force is charged with failing to provide officers and supervisors with the appropriate information, instruction and training for an active-shooter event…and didn’t provide proper equipment.

Province ready for marijuana legalization

The Gallant Government says it’s ready for federal legislation to legalize marijuanna no matter what’s in it.

The government says it has done its due diligence and the planning has put it in a better position for legalization next year.  The province is providing financial incentives to producers, has set up a college course on marijuana cultivation. It also recently announced there will be a cannabis research chair at St. Thomas University with a goal of advising government on public policy.
