A report will be released today into the deadly sinking of a fishing boat off the Acadian Peninsula.
Two men were killed and one was sent to hospital when their boat capsized near Bathurst. RCMP have said it appeared fishing gear got snagged on the bottom during a storm, making the boat list…then a wave came along and overturned it.
The Transportation Safety Board will release details of its investigation today.
The forest fire season in the province this year is off to a pretty slow start thanks to the pretty wet spring.
There have been fewer fires so far this year compared to previous years. Roger Collet, a wildfire prevention officer, says 236 fires had already scorched about 223 hectares by this time last year…but so far this year, there have only been 78 fires covering about 34 hectares.
