Cormorant problem being fixed

It’ll take six months to fix the problem that grounded the military’s fleet of new Cormorant helicopters in March…but they are slowly getting back into the air.

Colonel Peter Allan, wing commander at Shearwater, says a software problem caused a severe bump during a training flight. There was a sudden drop in altitude before the pilot landed safely. They traced the bump to a software issue  which caused a sudden restart of the system.

Refugee status granted

One of the first refugees to cross the border from the U-S to Manitoba last winter has now been granted refugee status.

Afraid of being deported from the U-S, Razak Iyal made the trek five months ago and lost his fingers to frostbite…but he says it was worth it to be safe in Canada.

The 35 year old native of Ghana was granted refugee status after saying he could be killed if he is sent back to his home country.
