Three Fathers Memorial Run

The Three Fathers Memorial Run drew over 1,300 people yesterday who ran various distances in memory of fallen Mounties, Douglas Larche, Dave Ross and Fabrice Gevaudan.

The run on the riverfront is only three years old but is quickly growing as a tradition, even though it brings back painful memories for the families. Again this year, $18,000 in bursaries was given away to 18 students from the six high schools served by Codiac RCMP.

Bridgefest draws thousands

There was another run-walk yesterday…Bridgefest which has been deemed a big success.

The festival over the weekend celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Confederation Bridge and Canada’s 150th.

Most of the events were held yesterday including the Bridge Walk and Run to raise money for the IWK. Over 5,000 people walked or ran across the bridge raising over $195,000 for the IWK Foundation. They had people from around the Maritimes as well as 15 American states and even Australia.
