Two arrested after standoff

An eight hour standoff near downtown Moncton ended peacefully yesterday with the arrest of a man and woman.

It all began with a report of shots being fired at a pickup on High Street near Mountain Road around 7:30 in the morning. RCMP arrived, evacuated neighbours and blocked off the street. Then the negotiators came in and a man and woman surrendered peacefully about 8 hours later.

No word on the charges facing the 25 year old man and 26 year old woman.
