Mathew Tucker trial going to Jury today

The defence decided not to call any evidence at Matthew Tucker’s murder trial yesterday. 36 year old Tucker is charged with killing his mother, Dorothy, two years ago in Oak Bay outside St. Stephen.

The judge sent the jury home for the rest of the day and told them to bring an overnight bag back to court today. The Crown and defence lawyers will offer their summations to the jury this morning. The judge will then give his instructions and the jury will be sequestered until it reaches a verdict.

Rothesay project still too dense

Rothesay town council wants the developer of a controversial condo project to go come up with yet another plan.

Councillors say the development proposed for Hillcrest Drive is a dramatic deviation from the municipal plan and they want the developer and staff to talk about something less dense.

A.E. McKay Builders was proposing a seven building, 60 unit condo complex aimed mainly at seniors…but it needs council to rezone almokst 4 acres of land.  This latest rejected proposal was already scaled-down from the original plan for nine buildings and 65 units.
