A bill has been introduced to let the Department of Social Development gain access to CRA financial information on behalf of clients applying for certain programs. It would amend the Family Income Security, Family Services, Nursing Homes and New Brunswick Housing acts, and make it easier to apply for social assistance, public housing, long-term care, and dental and vision programs.

Legislation being introduced to avoid coroners’ investigations for medically assisted dying
The province will introduce legislation to ensure coroners’ investigations aren’t mandatory in cases of medically assisted dying. Amendments would ensure the coroner stays out of it unless there are irregularities or special circumstances, as it’s a medical procedure under federal legislation.
