Missing diamond ring

Saint John Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a stolen diamond ring worth $26,000.

Unlike the jewellery store heist last month, this 3.5 karat diamond was stolen in a break-in at a home on Ellerdale Street. Police have chargedĀ  two suspects in the case and recovered some stolen items…but the ring is still missing. They say it has great sentimental value to the owner.

Quispamsis taxes

The new Quispamsis town council is not in the mood to raise taxes.

It held its first budget meeting on the weekend and the Telerahp-Journal reports staff presernted a proposal for $24 million budget and 6 cent increase in the property tax rate. By the end of the meeting, councillors had trimmed a million dollars and had the increase down to a cent.

The second budget meeting will be held December 6th….then the final approval should come two weeks later.
