Prime Minister Trudeau will not be attending the funeral for Fidel Castro.
Trudeau has been under fire, including in the Commons yesterday, for praising Castro in a statement issued after his death which did not also condem his human rights record.
Trudeau has said he gets how people with difficult memories of the regime might view things differently….but he says he wasn’t minimizing the serious concerns about human rights. His office says his schedule won’t permit him to go to the funeral. The Governor General will go instead.
