Auditor General Kim MacPherson warned the provincial government it can’t keep running up deficits.

In her annual report, MacPherson says the province has now run eight straight deficits increasing the province’s net debt to $14 billion…about $18,000 for each New Brunswicker.  She says the deficits and growing debt are unsustainable and could impact the ability to meet future financial obligations.

New initiative by Gord Downie and First Nations

Gord Downie is teaming up with a prominent aboriginal leader to encourage companies to promote dialogue and reconciliation with First Nations people.

The Tragically Hip’s frontman and Assembly of First Nations regional Chief Morley Googoo announced the project yesterday before Downey’s concert in Halifax.  The Legacy Room initiative has bars, restaurants and other companies set up a special room where aboriginal issues could be discussed.
