Province releases 2017 community funding, equalization grant numbers

The province will hand out $74.7 million in community funding and equalization grants next year.  The 2017 total tax base also increased by $1.1 billion, or 1.73%, over this year.  Municipalities and rural communities will have a core funding component of $12.7 million, with $53.3 million in equalization.  Local service districts will get $2.6 million in core funding, and a police equalization of $4.4 million.

NS RCMP out for National Safe Driving Week

National Safe Driving Week kicks off today, and Nova Scotia RCMP want you to think about your driving habits.  In support, they’ll be live tweeting tomorrow afternoon from checkpoints in Inverness and Port Hawkesbury.  They’ll also do checkpoints on Saturday, which is National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day.
