MLAs reaffirm support for Energy East

The legislature reaffirmed its support for the Energy East Pipeline in a vote yesterday. The Liberals and Conservatives voted in favour while Green Party leader David Coon was against.

A similiar motion was passed by the legislature in 2012 when the idea first came up. Premier Brian Gallant told the legislature in light of recent developments he believes it’s a good time to reaffirm that support.

Three new members have been appointed to the National Energy Board to conduct the review of the Energy East Pipeline. They’re expected to get to work early next year.

Boil order in Champlain Heights

A boil order was issued yesterday for several streets on the east side because of a water main break.

The order was issued for residents on 18 streets off Loch Lomond Road in the Champlain Heights area.  The break was in a pipe believed to be 150 years old, which fills the Champlain Heights water tank.

There was also discoloured water coming out of taps in some other areas because the water in the system was disrupted by the change in flow.
