103 Twinning to begin next spring

Work will begin in April on the twinning of Highway 103 between Upper Tantallon and Hubbards.

Treasury Board President Scott Brison was in town yesterday to announce the federal government will put up $65.6 million of the $140 million pricetag. The province will cover the rest.

The twinning will be done in two stages starting in the spring with the work all done by 2023. Brison also hinted more announcements are coming shortly about other twinning projects on Highways 101 and 104.

Fatal eastern shore fire

The medical examiner has been called in after police say human remains were found in the aftermath of a house fire on the eastern shore.

Officials say the fire near Clam Bay was reported Monday morning but the body wasn’t found until later that night. They aren’t saying yet if it’s a man or woman. Neighbours reported a couple lived in the house. RCMP are calling the fire suspicious.
