Sydney Mines jail time

A Sydney Mines man is going to prison for drug trafficking.

44 year old John Reynolds pleaded guilty to two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in hydromorphone and cocaine after he was arrested in a raid on a residence June 6th.  The judge gave him two and a half years in prison.

Similiar charges against two other men arrested at the scene were dismissed.

Cape Breton decision overturned

The province’s Court of Appeal has overturned a Cape Breton’s man’s conviction on sex offences.

The justices ruled numerous technical problems with video link testimony by witnesses impaired the man’s right to a fair trial.

They overturned his conviction in May last year for sexual touching of his son who was 7 at the time.  The man’s name has not been released to protect the identity of his son.  The 43 year old man no longer lives in Cape Breton and is believed to have been paroled.
