Pay equity extended to more civil servants

The Gallant Government is extending equal pay provisions to three more groups of civil servants.

It’ll cost $8.4 million over 10 years to pay for pay equity for professional school support workers, specialized health-care workers and medical science professionals.

The Pay Equity Coalition welcomes the move calling it a step forward. However it points out the equity negotiation process hasn’t yet begun for large groups, like teachers, NB power or Crown corporations.

Charge laid in six year old murder

Police have made an arrest in the death of a woman more than six years ago in Dartmouth.

39 year old Angela Hall was found stabbed in the hallway of an apartment building on Primrose Street in April 2011 and died in hospital a short time later.

25 year old Christian Enang Clyke of Halifax was already in custody on an unrelated matter and has now been charged with second-degree murder.
