Maine dropping vaccination baits

Wildlife officials have been spreading baits around southwest New Brunswick in hopes raccoons will eat them and get a dose of anti-rabies vaccine.

Efforts are also underway in northeastern Maine with 350,000 baits spread by the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention.  State Veterinarian Dr. Michele Walsh says cases have been identified in areas of new Brunswick where rabies has been absent for a couple of decades.

Tall ships

The waterfront was a very crowded place on the weekend as hundreds of thousands of people flocked to see the Tall Ships.

Today is the last day for an upclose look before the parade of sail tomorrow when they head out to other ports around Nova Scotia and the Maritimes.

There was a parade by the various crews on Lower Water Street yesterday.
