Train-pedestrian fatality

THere was a fatal train-pedestrian accident in downtown Moncton yesterday.

It happened at a crossing on Robinson Street metres from where a man in a wheelchair was killed by a train last July. Witnesses said the lights were flashing, bells were ringing and the control arm was down at the time.

Throne speech

The Gallant Government will open the fall session of the legislature with a throne speech this afternoon.

It’s expected to announce increased payments to help parents pay for daycare. The government is also expected to announce plans for more training of early childhood educators, including a free online curriculum. Government House leader Rick Doucet told the Telegraph-Journal the speech will focus heavily on education.
