Education Minister Karen Casey said the gathering of the Partnership on Systemic Working Conditions will go ahead even without teachers. The NSTU pulled them out of today’s meeting, wanting a postponement because Stephen McNeil says they’ll only discuss working conditions in this fashion, not through bargaining.

Physician-assisted dying
16 Nova Scotians have chosen physician-assisted dying since the rules changed. The Health Authority released the numbers yesterday after previously keeping the numbers secret citing confidentiality concerns.
Sheila Sperry with Dying with Dignity Canada was surprised at the numbers telling CBC she thought it would have been somewhere between 20 and 25. Sperry thinks the numbers could allay fears of people whio predicted a rush of physician-assisted suicides.
