Jail time for contractor in worker’s death

A contractor has been sentenced to jail for the death of one of his workers in Clayton Park in 2013, according to CBC.

47 year old Shaun Patrick McInnis fell from the roof of a four storey apartment building he was working on on Lacewood Drive. He was wearing a safety harness but it wasn’t attached to anything.

David Busk, owner and manager of Truss Worthy Framing and Renovations Ltd., pleaded guilty to two offences under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the judge gave him 60 days in jail to be served on weekends.

Drone nearly hits Porter Airlines flight

Federal investigators are looking into a near miss involving a Porter Airlines plane near the Toronto Islands airport.

Two crew members suffered minor injuries when the plane, which was carrying 54 passengers yesterday morning, had to swerve suddenly to avoid an object believed to be a drone. The plane, on a flight from Ottawa, was just under three thousand metres when the incident occurred over Lake Ontario.
