In the Maritime Hockey League…Commandos beat the Caps 6-4 in Summerside.
NHL action…the Leafs unloaded on the Panthers 6-1. Predators chewed up the Senators 5-1. Bruins were shut down 1-0 by the Wild. Canucks clipped the Coyotes 3-2 in overtime. Kings beat the Oilers 4-2. Jets lost 5-2 to the Flyers.
In the NFL’s Thursday nighter…Carolina downed the Saints 23-20.
The Strait Area Chamber of Commerce handed out its business awards last night.
Top honours, the Excellence in Business Award went to Subway franchise owners Darren and Tracey Cummings. The Rising Start new business award went to Rob and Amanda McAleer for their waterfront BaRyKin Bistro. Zutphen Contractors won the excellence in safety award for going two years time-loss free.
