The CBU Faculty Association has called on the university administration to ratify a tentative contract agreement, according to the Local Xpress.

Union vice president Calvin Howley said it is asking the Board of Governors to ratify the agreement reached recently because it;’s in the best interests of the university.  He said the union statement is not tied to the suspension last week of CBU President David Wheeler by the Board of Governors, or a labour board ruling which found CBU engaged in unfair labour practises when it came to voluntary retirement packages.

A Glace Bay man has entered guilty pleas to armed robbery and other charges in connection with holdups in April.

28 year old Clayton Anthony Thomas will be sentenced in January and remains in custody on remand until then, according to the Cape Breton Post.

Thomas is one of four men arrested arersted after the robberies at a convenience store in Sydney and a home in the north end of Sydney.

The other three are still before the courts.
