Wooden stairs in Spryfield connecting to Braeburn Road to close temporarily

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that the wooden stairs located across from 49 Herring Cove Road that provide a pedestrian connection to Braeburn Road (near civic 14), in Spryfield, will be closed for the next two weeks.

The stairs will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, through until end of day Wednesday, Dec. 21, to facilitate a complete replacement of the stairway structure.

Residents and pedestrians are advised to take alternative routes for the duration of the stairway replacement project.

Motion tabled in support of Energy East pipeline

A motion in support of the Energy East pipeline has been tabled in the legislature.  Premier Brian Gallant moved it, and it was seconded by Opposition Leader Blaine Higgs.  An estimated 4551 direct and indirect jobs are expected during construction, with 321 jobs each year of operation. The potential increase to New Brunswick’s GDP is more than $3 billion.
