Uptown stabbings

Two men, aged 22 and 23, were taken to hospital early yesterday morning after stabbings in the uptown area. One man’s wounds were serious…the other’s less so…but neither appeared life-threatening.

Police say the two men were together but got separated. Then one heard his buddy calling for help when he was attacked by a number of people. The second man was then beaten and stabbed as well when he went to help.

Major Crime is investigating.

Enterprise SJ still in trouble

Enterprise Saint John’s boss Larry Hachey went to Quispamsis Town Council to plead for full funding for the regional development agency.

The Telegraph-Journal reports council earlier decided to cut its contribution in half next year…not satisfied with the performance of Enterprise Saint John. That decision stood despite Hachey’s presentation.

Rothesay Town Council this week also put the agency on notice to show it’s value. Rothesay says it will include its full contribution in next year’s budget…but it wants a progress report six months into the year. A similiar plan is being debated by councillors in Saint John.
