Halifax ranks 7th out of 10 in healthy living

Halifax ranks seventh out of ten on a list comparing the health of Canadian cities.

The Conference Board of Canada looked at four areas…health of the population, healthy lifestyle, access to health-care services and life satisfaction.

Saskatoon took top spot. Halifax ended up with a grade of “B” by coming in second in access to health care, but we faltered slightly in other categories.

More research into tidal turbine effects

The province is partnering with a non-profit group to try to find better techniques for the environmental monitoring of tidal power.

The Offshore Energy Research Association of Nova Scotia is accepting proposals for research to help understand how turbines interact with the Bay of Fundy. $150,000 is being invested towards the initiative.
