NSGEU local votes against year old tentative agreement

More labour trouble for the McNeil Government.

NSGEU President Jason MacLean says a tentative contract, reached over a year ago, has now been rejected by 94% of the local members. MacLean is urging the government to return to the bargaining table, saying that deal was reached under duress because the government was threatening to legislate a contract.

Oval opens for skaters today…weather permitting

It’s certainly feeling a lot like winter now…except for the warm weather coming Sunday.

Still the skating oval on the Common will be opening for the season today after laying down a layer of ice.

The city says they had 120,000 people skating around in circles last season which was down a little because they had to close it early due to warm weather in the spring.
