Richmond District RCMP responded to a fatal two-vehicle collision that was reported at 6:16 a.m. yesterday. A 52-year-old woman was travelling East on Highway 104 in Evanston when her vehicle collided with an oncoming vehicle. She died at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

Cape Breton Coun. Steve Gillespie’s health is improving after his recent medical emergency at a council meeting Dec. 15.
The meeting, which became heated during talks of a port deal and other contentious issues, came to a halt an hour in and an ambulance was called.
He attributed the issue to dehydration, fatigue, a sudden drop in blood pressure, blood sugar and stress all at once,” he said.
He said he will attempt to make lifestyle changes right away, adding he had been burning the candle at both ends.
Gillespie represents District 4, which includes Westmount, Edwardsville, Sydney River and parts of Coxheath and Prime Brook.
