Lots of strawberries this year

There’s a bumper crop of strawberries this year. Farmers say we’ve had the right amount of rain and sun.  Last year was difficult because of dry conditions.

Marlene Huntley, at Horticulture Nova Scotia, says the season has been so good that some U-Picks have been closing early because they’ve sold out already. She added the strawberry industry in the province is worth about $ 20 million a year.

Gov’t still working on new fighters

The head of the Air Force is rejecting suggestions that the Trudeau Government is dragging its feet on new jet fighters to replace the aging CF-18s.

Lt.-General Mike Hood says the government is taking a prudent amount of time because this is a big contract. The new defence policy includes replacing our current 76 CF-18s with 88 new warplanes.
