A picture of man holding a paintball gun in Halifax dorm room led to the partial evacuation of Saint Mary’s University residence on Friday night. Police say the school’s security staff were shown the picture, posted on social media, that appeared to show a man in the Loyola Residence building holding an assault rifle. Police were responded shortly before 11pm and the floor where the student lived was evacuated. The student in the photo was eventually taken into custody at a different location where police learned the weapon in the photo was actually a paintball gun. Police say no charges will be laid.
