Sydney Mines rescue

A small tanker ran aground near Sydney Mines yesterday.

The “Arca 1” lost engine power and hit the shore at Little Pond.

It was empty and on the way to Mexico.

There were only six crewmembers aboard, and they were airlifted to safety by helicopter; as a crowd gathered on the shore to watch the dramatic rescue.

Nobody was hurt.
