Common Council pushes for Ellen’s Law

Common Council is backing efforts to get Ellen’s Law passed in the province, according to CBC.

Councillors voted unanimously last night to a motion calling on the provincial government to institute a law calling for a minimum distance for motorists to keep away when passing cyclists. This comes after the death of Ellen Watters outside Sussex last month.

Mayor Don Darling said the mayors of Moncton and Fredericton are also pledging support.

Rothesay gives initial approval to Condo development

Rothesay Town Council has started to approve rezoning of land for a large condo complex, according to the Telegraph-Journal.

Councillors voted unanimously on first reading to rezone an almost 4 acre lot on Hillcrest Drive between the Common and Town Hall.

The final design is still a work in process…but the latest shows seven buildings with 58 units. The zoning change won’t be finalized until council sees the final plans.
