Judge sends complaint over food allowance back to Human Rights Commission

A discrimination case by social assistance recipients over the province’s special diet allowance has been sent back to the Human Rights Commission.

A judge ruled the commission unreasonably dismissed the claim by five women who complained the province hasn’t increased the maximum special diet allowance since 1996. Applicants can get up to a maximum of $150 a month for health-related dietary needs.
