Price of Milk Going Up

The price of milk in New Brunswick is going up. The province’s Farm Products Commission announced on Friday that milk prices would be going up by roughly one-percent as of February 1st. The Commission says the move was due in large part to higher production costs. The price of milk rose four percent in 2016 and 1.4 percent in 2015.

NB Power Gives Up Fight to Keep Executive’s Salary Secret

New Brunswick Power gave up its fight to keep a top executive’s salary a secret on Friday. On Friday the utility released information showing Brett Plummer, the company’s Vice President of Nuclear, is earning 500-thousand-dollars American or roughly 650-thousand Canadian. Plummer’s pay more than double the salary of other NB Power Vp’s and significantly more than the utility’s president Gaeton Thomas. NB power says Plummer’s salary reflects his nuclear expertise and the need the utility had to bring in nuclear power experience from elsewhere to deal with performance issues at the Point Lepreau nuclear plant. The utility had previously filed a request with the Energy and Utilities Board to keep Plummer’s salary secret.
