New border bus coming

There’ll be a new bus to the border in the fall.

The Gallant Government is providing $500,000 over two years to help the Rural Lynx bus system get going in Charlotte County. The Southwest New Brunswick Transit Authority will operate the bus which will have two round trips a day between Saint John and St. Stephen with stops in Saint Andrews, St. George and Pennfield.

The Transit authority has been pushing for a new bus service since Acadian Lines dropped the route in 2011. The bus will also provide courier services in the communities.

Shooting video should be released

Video of a deadly shooting by police in Rothesay over three years ago should be released, according to the Information and Privacy Commissioner.

CBC has been trying for 15 months to get the video from a body camera that shows the shooting of William David McCaffrey in his family’s home in February of 2014.  Information and Privacy Commissioner Anne Bertrand has determined public interest trumps privacy in this case…that people should see exactly what happened.

CBC says the Kennebecasis Regional Police Serice isn’t required to follow her ruling and will be getting legal advise.
