A 38 year old Smith’s Creek woman is facing charges after RCMP seized about 40,000 contraband cigarettes. They also seized two guns and some cash. The woman will be in court May 9th.

Ice fishing
It’s ice fishing time and people are being reminded by the province to be environmentally responsible.
Signs are posted at various ice fishing sites tell owners of huts to maintain them properly until the end of the season March 31st.
Environment Minister Serge Rousselle says people should follow the regulations and make sure their shelters are removed when the season’s over. Owners of ice fishing shacks must post their name and address clearly on the outside of the shelter and have them mounted on skids or runners to make them easily movable.
