CBU talks

No strike at Cape Breton University today.  The two sides say they made significant progress in negotiations last week so there won’t be a strike today.  They still worked on details over the weekend.

A previous tentative contract was rejected by the Board of Governors which also fired president David Wheeler for the way he negotiated it.

NS teachers deal

Some teachers will be at school more than 20 minutes before classes begin this morning as the work to rule has been suspended by the Teacher’s Union.

The two sides reched a tenative agreement late last week.

The union is recommending it be accepted but it did that for the last two as well which were rejected by the union membership in ratification votes.

No word when a vote will be held on this one but in the meantime, the work to rule has been suspended.
