Province buys new Lifeflight helicopters

The province has now bought two new Lifeflight helicopters.

It has a deal for two Sikorsky 76C+ air ambulances.  They should be flying by August. They are approved to land on hospital roofs. EHS says transport times to get patients to hospital will be reduced 10 to 25 minutes.

Biofuel refinery?

A new study calls for Nova Scotia to develop a biofuel-refinery which would produce an alternative fuel from wood waste.

Researchers at Nova Scotia’s Innovation Hub say fuel could be used to heat homes, power boats and other things. It says there’s enough renewable fibre generated in the province to supply a commercial scale plant.

It could also use waste from farm crops and municipal solid waste sources.
