Abandoned Flipped Car Leads to Impaired Driving Charges

A 35-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving after a flipped vehicle was left abandoned in the Fairview neighborhood of Halifax last night. Police were called to the scene on Ashdale Avenue shortly after 8pm and discovered the unoccupied vehicle on its roof. A 35-year-old man was located in the area a short time later and taken into custody. Police say the man sustained minor injuries in the crash. He’s since been charged with impaired driving and will return to court next month.

Armed Robbery at Sydney Gas Station

A 20-year-old man is in custody after an armed robbery at Sydney gas station Saturday morning. Cape Breton Regional Police responded to Sobey Fuels on Prince Street shortly before 7am after receiving a 911 call. Police say an armed robbery had taken place but have not disclosed what type of weapon was used. No one was injured but a 20-year-old man has been taken into custody. Police and a K-9 unit remained on the scene for some time and the matter is still under investigation.
