MLAs were back at their desks in the legislation at midnight to debate the teachers’s contract while the teachers were outside continuing their protests.
They will be back in the classrooms this morning as school resumes, but then they will head back to Province House this afternoon when school ends.
The bill is into final reading now and the opposition parties say they will delay it as long as they can.
The need to promote and strengthen trade ties with the U-S dominated a two-day meeting of the Council of Atlantic premiers in Corner Brook.
Stephen McNeil remained in Halifax and sent health Minister Leo Glavine in his stead.
The premieras said they must sell Atlantic Canada’s interests with the U-S, especially when it comes to softwood lumber. They are also working to bring down health costs and plan a review of public drug plan coverage seeking service improvements, cost containment; and more help for high-cost therapies for rare diseases.
