Old shop classes returning to Petitcodiac Regional School

Petitcodiac Regional School is getting $1.1 million from the provincial government for some specific upgrades.

Premier Brian Gallant announced the government will be building new trades shops at the school for automotive and metal trades. Similiar shops were removed from the school in 1998 in favour of computer labs. Now Premier Gallant says the government wants to strengthen the economy by improving access for students to different trades.

Dieppe oval closed again

Dieppe’s brand new skating oval is closed again.

The oval opened just before Christmas, closed briefly in January because of mechanical issues. Now it’s closed again indefinitely.

City officials said the mild temperatures this week have shown there’s a persistent problem with the refrigeration piping under the outdoor oval. The city expects to get an update on how to fix it today.
