Storm meetings set

The province has set up public meetings in the spring to hear from residents about their experiences during the ice storm.

Thousands went without power for days and will have a chance to tell officials in April how they think that could be improved. But the President of the Acadian Society, Kevin Arsenau, told the Times and Transcript the five 90 minute meetings from Richibucto to the Acadian Peninsula are not enough to gather the information needed….said it seems more like a public relations exercise.

Big Lift is done but not all the work on the bridge

A major waypoint has passed in the Big Lift at the MacDonald Bridge.

They raised the last of 46 sections of new bridge decking into place on the weekend. That should bring an end to the weekend closures…but they will still be closing the bridge at night through the week as there is paving and other work still to be done.

They’re hoping to have the pedestrian and cyclists’ lanes open next month.
